Patient Services & Programs

CARTI

Patients diagnosed with cancer, face psychosocial concerns ranging from transportation needs to caring for the caregiver. CARTI’s resource coordinators provide specialized services designed to facilitate treatment and improve quality of life for cancer patients and their families.

Areas of assistance for those who qualify include housing, transportation and financial, emotional and nutritional counseling. In addition, CARTI offers a variety of publications and resources on cancer, treatment and prevention.

Reynolds Cancer Support House

The Donald W. Reynolds Cancer Support House offers a variety of programs and services in a comfortable, inviting atmosphere at no cost to the patient or family. With our unique mix of support, the House has assisted thousands of cancer patients and their family members with their battle against cancer.

UAMS Winthrop P. Rockfeller Cancer Institute

These services are offered to you as a patient at the UAMS Cancer Institute: Support Groups; Social Workers; Nutrition Services; Financial Counseling; Pharmacist; Pastoral Care.

Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA)’s Medicine Assistance Tool (MAT) is a web platform designed to help patients, caregivers and health care providers learn more about the resources available through the various biopharmaceutical industry programs offered to those who need financial support due to their lack of insurance or inadequate prescription medicine coverage. MAT is not its own patient assistance program, but rather a search engine for many of the support programs and resources that the biopharmaceutical industry has been offering for decades.

The Actors Fund

The American Life Fund Cancer Grant

At American Life Fund, we work with cancer patients every day, so we know just how costly a cancer diagnosis can be. From medical treatments to daily living expenses, costs can add up and make it difficult for patients to pay their bills.  In order to help provide some relief during this stressful time, we created a grant to help cover the expenses that come with a cancer diagnosis.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation

Corporate Angel Network

Mission is to fly cancer patients (both children and adults) to treatment at no cost to them on empty seats – on both private and corporate planes – with patients who need the rides. This not only improves the patients’ chances of survival, but, it also reduces their emotional stress, physical discomfort, and financial burden. Participation in Corporate Angel Network is open to all cancer patients, bone marrow donors and recipients, and stem cell donors and recipients who are ambulatory and not in need of medical support while traveling. Eligibility is not based on financial need, and patients may travel as often as necessary.

Fisher House Foundation

Operates a network of comfort homes where military and veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment. Homes are located at major military and VA medical centers nationwide, close to the medical center or hospital they serve, and have up to 21 suites, with private bedrooms and baths. Also operates the Hero Miles program, using donated frequent flyer miles to bring family members to the bedside of ill service members as well as the Hotels for Heroes program using donated hotel points to allow family members to stay at hotels.

Provides grants for people ages 16-36 who are diagnosed with a rare cancer. Covers a wide range of needs, including (but not limited to): current and residual medical bills, rent, utilities, car and health insurance premiums, IVF treatments, integrative therapies, travel expenses, and medical hair pieces. Grants range from $500-$1,500, and applications should be completed by an oncology social worker, doctor’s office, or patient navigator.

The Air Care Alliance

Offers a list of all nonprofit volunteer flying groups, whether they are members of the Air Care Alliance or not, in the interests of providing all possible help to patients, communities and others with needs.

Provides free wigs to women and children anywhere in the U.S and also offer a grant wishes program for children. Search for participating salons on their website. If no local salon, contact directly with request. Also accepts hair donations (must be 12” and not colored; they do accept gray hair).

Lolly’s Locks

Provides high-quality wigs to cancer patients who cannot otherwise afford them. To qualify for our assistance, person must be a cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy, and suffering from hair loss as a result. Applications are available on the website or can be mailed.
