Arkansas Colorectal Roundtable-Inaugural Meeting

The American Cancer Society (ACS) estimates 1420 new cases and 620 deaths in 2015 from CRC in Arkansas.

The Arkansas Cancer Coalition (ACC), announces the launch of the Arkansas Colorectal Cancer Roundtable on October 29th in Little Rock, Arkansas.  Through the Roundtable, ACC seeks to develop and implement strategies to reduce incidences and mortality caused by colorectal cancer (CRC) for the residents of Arkansas.

The American Cancer Society (ACS) estimates 1420 new cases and 620 deaths in 2015 from CRC in Arkansas. ACS data also show that our rates exceed national incidence and mortality rates: between 2007 and 2011, of those diagnosed with CRC in Arkansas, 55% were men and 39% were women, compared to the national rates of 50% and 38% for men and women. For the same period, 23% of Arkansas men and 16% of women died from CRC compared to the 19% and 14% national rates for men and women. Our screening rates are among the lowest for adults aged over 50: for the period 2006 to 2008, Arkansas ranked 46th nationally.
