The American Lung Association has just released its annual 2016 State of Tobacco Control report, which grades the state and federal government on key tobacco control policies, including Access to Cessation Services.
In Arkansas, the report calls for the following three actions to be taken by our elected officials to reduce tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke:
- Maintain or increase funding for the state’s tobacco prevention and cessation program;
- Strengthen and remove the current exemptions in the state’s clean indoor air act to protect all workers in the state from secondhand smoke; and
- Increase taxes on cigarettes and other tobacco products.
