  • Wear a holiday-themed sweater
  • Include a creative cancer or tobacco control message

Meet our speakers:

Shelly Brown is the System Director of Respiratory Care Services for Baptist Health and has been in the respiratory care profession for 30 years.  She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Harding University.  She is Nationally Certified in Tobacco Treatment Practice and is very passionate about helping others improve their lung health.  She currently serves on the American Lung Association Southeast Region Board of Directors and the Advisory Board for the Arkansas Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program.

Dr. Joseph Su is a Professor of Epidemiology at the College of Public Health and serves as the Co-director of Cancer Prevention and Population Science Program at the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). He conducts and plans population-based research in areas of lifestyle and environmental factors associated with cancer risk. Prior to coming to UAMS, Dr. Su was the Branch Chief at the Epidemiology and Evaluation Research Branch, Division of Epidemiology at the Center for Device and Radiological Health, Food and Drug Administration (FDA). He oversaw premarket clinical trials and post approval epidemiological study designs and execution for in vitro diagnostic devices and Class III cardiovascular and neurological devices in the U.S. market. Prior to his tenure at the FDA, Dr. Su served as Program Director at the National Cancer Institute, Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences, Epidemiology and Genomic Research Program, where he championed the use of epigenomics and metabolomics in nutrition and cancer epidemiologic studies. He was a tenured Associate Professor at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, School of Public Health Epidemiology Program with joint appoint at the School of Medicine Department of Pathology before he served at the Federal government.
